Samsung Chat 335 (GT-S3353) Specifications and Review

Samsung Chat 335 (GT-S3353) 1

Samsung Chat 335 is a budget phone that does not look like one. In a glance, it would make you think it’s a BlackBerry. It is a very slim phone, inexpensive, good looking, has qwerty keyboard, has an optical trackpad and most of all it has a WiFi.

Design

The phone has a solid stylish casing , very slim and has a very responsive trackpad. Its 6.096cm (2.4) LQVGA screen is very clear. The buttons of the qwerty keyboard are quiet small, but I was very amazed when I tried using it, realizing that the qwerty keyboard is very accurate and responsive. The micro usb port (which can be used for charging and connecting to a computer) is located at the top near the 3.5 mm audio jack.

Features

This phone is totally packed with so many useful features.Samsung Chat 335 (GT-S3353) 2

  • applications for social networking sites, email   and instant messenger
  • bluetooth
  • WiFi (this is really the biggest factor)
  • dictionary
  • very huge capacity phonebook
  • 2 megapixels camera (no autofocus)
  • micro sd card slot (up to 8G)
  • clock, calendar, timer, stopwatch, alarm clock, calculator, memo, voice recorder
  • music player
  • Fm Radio

Performance

I got this phone last May through a plan. I’ve been using it for three months now and it truly rocks. Its keyboard is fascinating, I can type fast with it, when I made a conversation with a friend using SMS, they keep on saying that I sent messages very fast, considering that we are on the same network. One of my friends even asked me if I am using a PC. I can type memos now on this phone with ease.

The menus are well organized and the keyboard programmable shortcut function is great.

Samsung Chat 335 (GT-S3353) 3Navigating through these menus is a breeze using its optical joystick. It can recognize and differentiate normal and fast sweeps, helping me browse the internet, scroll through photo albums or menu lists quickly and conveniently.

It also has a pre installed programs useful for social networking. Keeping in touch with friends is very easy.

The music player is great. When using headphone, you will notice that the bass is good but don’t have that extra mega bass feel though, but the built-in speaker is clear and loud.

FM reception is excellent, I truly like the feature where you can save the station’s frequency for easy recall or tuning. I just don’t understand the idea of having to plug the headset for the FM radio to work. I think Samsung should do something on this, I think it would be much better if we don’t have to plug the headset just to make the FM radio work.

The 2.0 Megapixesl works fine under good lighting condition, obviously it lacks autofocus, but it is capable of producing decent photos, given the right angle and good lighting.

Making calls with this phone is better than ever. Voice clarity is superb and reception is excellent, using a headset during calls further enhances call experience.

Samsung Chat 335 (GT-S3353) 5The battery lasts for 4-5 days. I make at least five and received at least 7 calls a day, I send at least 20 text messages a day. I only use WiFi for testing Access Points, but I frequently use Bluetooth for file transfer. For activities such as mine I can say that Samsung Chat 335 (GT-S3353) battery life is great.

Presently, it’s hard to find themes for this phone but I don’t see it as a downside.

In the Philippines, its price ranges from Php 6,500 to Php 7,200 depending on the supplier. Using the exchange rate to date
(1 US dollar = 42.98 Philippine pesos) it would be
USD 151.23 to USD 167.52 more or less.
